Lawmakers Call for Crackdown on Sanction-Evading Countries
The House Foreign Affairs Committee
Subcommittee on Oversight & Accountability held a hear last week on the Biden Administration’s sanctions policy and enforcement, and lawmakers called for a crackdown on sanctions-evading countries.
Witnesses included Anthony Ruggiero, Senior Director and Fellow, Foundation for Defense of Democracies, who testified that these countries serve as a shopping market for illicit items and financing. Ruggiero named North Korea, Russia, China, Iran, and Syria, led by China and Russia. See a webcast of the hearing.

AAEI Meets With Australian Brokers, Importers and Exporters Association
AAEI President and CEO Eugene Laney met with with Andrew Hudson of the Australian Brokers, Importers and Exporters Association last week. Mr. Hudson will give a briefing to the International Policy Committee on Pacific Trade issues and will also share Australian AEO benefits, best practices like deferred payments, reporting and Customs Authority leadership access.
