USTR Extends Tariffs Exclusions

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) announced that it will extend will continue to exclude 352 product lines from Section 301 tariffs. The exclusions were set to expire at the end of 2022. USTR says “the extension will help align further consideration of these exclusions with the ongoing comprehensive [Section 301] four-year review.”

Section 301 tariffs, levied on goods imported from China, were imposed during the Trump Administration. USTR currently is conducting a statutory investigation on the tariffs. In a new Federal Register Notice, USTR says interested parties may continue to “submit comments on whether certain tariff headings with a reinstated product exclusion should remain covered by the actions or removed.” The deadline for those comments is January 17, 2023.
